Serves: 10 cups

  • Ingredients:
  • Furikake Seasoning-
  • 1 sheet of nori
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • ¼- ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon hot paprika
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Stovetop popped popcorn-
  • ½ cup popcorn kernels
  • ¼ cup olive oil

First make your furikake seasoning. To toast the nori, wave the sheet carefully over a low direct flame until crisp and fragrant. In a coffee grinder mix together the nori (slightly crumbled), sesame seeds, salt, sugar, and paprika. Blend until nicely mixed together. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and add the furikake seasoning. Mix well and set aside.

In a large pot with a right fitting lid, combine the oil and kernels. Turn the heat on high and cover with a lid. Holding the handles with oven mitts, continue shaking the pot from side to side, holding the lid down tightly until you don’t hear any more popping. Uncover and pour on your furikake butter.
